Aims

To enrich students' international exposure, Chang Gung University (CGU) in Taiwan and The University of Queensland (UQ) in Australia will collaborate to host a two-week engineering and cultural summer program. This program comprises training sessions, language courses, academic talks, and cultural activities. An inclusive class composed of students from UQ, CGU, Taiwan, and other nations is anticipated to participate, enabling students to acquire valuable technical skills and broaden their global outlook.

Schedule

July 2nd to 12th, 2024

The 2024 Summer Study Tour to be held at CGU will be scheduled from July 2~12 2024. Opening ceremony will be held on July 3, 2024. Detailed schedule and course content are explained on the following page.

Curriculum

Students’ Professional Fields

  • Electrical and Electronics Engineering
  • Computer Science or Data Science
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Information Technology
  • Biomedical Engineering
  • Chemical and Materials Engineering

What do we offer

Training sessions

The program will encompass a total of four projects, each lasting for 2 days, contingent upon the projects available. Students will engage in sequential project-based learning throughout the program. Students will be divided into several groups to work on the projects under the supervision of professors and teaching assistants (TAs).

Academic Talk

Academic talk will be scheduled to offer students insights into the professional conduct of engineers in Taiwan and Australia. Professors will be invited to deliver presentations, aiming to achieve these goals in a relaxed atmosphere. The academic talks will provide students with a concise overview of the latest research and technological advancements in the field.

Language courses

Language courses will be provided for students throughout the program.

Non-Chinese speaking students will have the opportunity to enroll in Chinese language courses, while Chinese-speaking students will be offered English language courses.

Cultural activities

To promote student interaction, our program will offer a range of cultural activities and tours. These experiences will allow students to immerse themselves in Asian and Taiwanese cultures while connecting with peers from different countries. An optional Taiwan cultural tour will be held in Chiayi on July 6th to 7th, and there is an additional fee to join.
*Due to safety concerns after the earthquake in Hualien on April 3rd, the cultural tour will be relocated to Chiayi.

Company visit

As part of the program, students will have the opportunity to visit companies in Taiwan. These visits will offer students a comprehensive insight into the latest research and technological advancements within the field.

Accommodation

Throughout the summer program period, spanning from July 2 to July 13, 2024, on-campus accommodation will be provided for all students enrolled (quad-room). It is required for students to arrive at CGU no later than July 2, 2024. Room assignments will be pre-arranged by the Student Residence Office.
